Good Morning Parents, Students and Community Stakeholders,

Here is the latest report from US News and World Report regarding our school’s performance! Once again, we are shining! We are in the top 5% of schools nationwide, rank #845, State rank #134, 16th best magnet in California, Magnet rank #120 which is 5th best in LAUSD, Best High School in the valley~ surpassing all valley charter high schools: Granada Hills HS, El Camino, and Birmingham!

We also ranked ahead of Van Nuys, North Hollywood, Cleveland, Reseda, Taft, CHAMPS, Northridge Academy, Kennedy, Poly, Monroe, Chatsworth, Canoga Park, East Valley, Panorama, San Fernando, Sun Valley, Sylmar, and Grant!

I am very proud of the work my teachers and staff commit every day to the student community at DPMHS! Some of the things we do best are support our students and families through personal connections, recognize student achievement regularly, analyze data and provide interventions promptly, and offer differentiated and rigorous instruction designed to meet the CCSS.

I continue to be so proud of our school!

Best, Deb

Please take a moment to watch the video and share with family and friends.

Thank you,

Congratulations to The Pearl Post and Ms. Chavira

September 17, 2014 at 9:50 am

We want to share the wonderful news that The Pearl Post is a finalist in the 2014 National Scholastic Press Association’s Newspaper Pacemaker contest, the highest recognition for a high school publication. The Pearl Post is one of eight finalists from across the nation in the ‘Broadsheet 8 or fewer pages’ category and the only school selected from Southern California!! The winners will be announced at the JEA/NSPA National High School Convention in Washington D.C. in November.

Fourteen DPMHS journalism/media students hope to attend this 4-day convention in Washington D.C. this November and they are working hard to raise funds so that they can pay for their registration, airfare and hotel (LAUSD does not provide funds for this activity). If you would like to help these talented students get to Washington D.C., you can donate directly to their cause on the youcaring.com site at http://www.youcaring.com/tuition-fundraiser/dpmhs-student-journalists-go-to-washington-d-c-/233758.

If a copy of the September issue of The Pearl Post didn’t make it home to you last week, you can always visit the online site at www.thepearlpost.com for articles and exclusive online content written and produced by our DPMHS students.

Again, congratulations to Ms Chavira and The Pearl Post student journalists!

Thank you,

Mary Bower

More Honors for DPMHS!

May 22, 2014 at 7:16 am

Greeting DPMHS Community,

Our little school was in the spot light again last week!

Ms. Jackie Gorski, our music teacher, was invited to the Queen Latifah Show where she was honored for her work as a music teacher. Ms. Gorski was award a trip for 2 and accommodations for a week in New York City! This was a complete surprise for Ms. Gorski and kudos go to the small group of people who were great secret-keepers and didn’t let the cat out of the bag. The show aired on Monday, May 19th at 2:00 pm on channel 2 and again at 7:00 pm on channel 9. Here’s the link: http://queenlatifah.com/episodes/may-19-2014/.

The other honor came in the form of a letter from Dr John Deasy, LAUSD Superintendent, to Daniel Pearl Magnet High School, recognizing the success in continuing to raise the Graduation Rate. Please click here to read what Dr. Deasy wrote.

Sincerely,

Mary Bower
