Good evening Sharks, this is Principal Smith with your Weekly Update. Please check the Pearl Preview on our website for the listing of clubs and meet-ups this week.
On Tuesday, October 4th, we have a shortened day with dismissal at 1:42pm.

Thursday, October 6th, there is an ASB Meeting at lunch. All students are welcome to attend, but delegates need to be present. Tonight is our first Family Dinner Potluck at school, 6:30pm, in the MPR! Looks like we will have a great turnout!

On Sunday, October 8th, DPMHS will be promoting our school at the Encino Family Festival, between Balboa and Louise on Ventura Boulevard! Stop by and say hello and help us talk about our great school! It opens at 10:00am and closes at 4:00pm! See you there!

Looking ahead:
October 9th: students will be invited to see a performance of Macbeth!
October 12th: The Junior Class will be going to see the play, Hamilton!

Hello Teachers!

Just wanted remind you all about our first PotLuck Dinner on Thursday, October 5th and our Movie Night on Friday October 13th.

We are super excited about both of these events and thank you in advance for helping to spread the word!

For movie night, we will be giving a “door prize” for the best Star Wars costume! (Probably a Starbucks or Target Gift Card) (teachers are eligible too… 🙂

If you have any ideas or suggestions, please contact me and we’ll get them going.

And last, I just wanted to remind everyone that the next PTSA meeting is scheduled for OCTOBER 19th and 6:30. NOT THIS THURSDAY….

There have been several teachers reaching out requesting funds for supplies or equipment and we didn’t want anyone showing up to an empty room. 🙂

Led by our On-Site Psychiatric Social Worker, Ms. JoAnne Tuell, this workshop, named Parent in Control, will take place on Wednesday morning September 27th from 8:15 to 9:45. The attached flier contains additional information.

Greetings Parents,

It is that time of year again when we are asking for your assistance in the election of members to the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). Daniel Pearl Magnet HS is seeking parent volunteers to represent our school on the PAC.

We need parents to fulfill the following categories

* A parent of an English Learner (EL),
* A parent of a student who qualifies to the Free and Reduce Meal Program (FRMP)
* A parent at-large
* A foster parent

The first meetings will be held as follows:

1. September 13, 2017 for the FOSTER YOUTH, Local District Northwest, 6621 Balboa Blvd., Lake Balboa, 5:30 - 7:30pm
2. September 14, 2017 for EL, FRMP, AND PARENT AT LARGE, Monroe HS, 9229 Haskell Avenue, North Hills, 9:30am - 12:30pm

Please contact Principal Smith if you can serve our school in this capacity.
