Drill Tomorrow, April 12

April 11, 2018 at 9:09 am

Good Morning Parents and Staff,

Tomorrow, DPMHS will conduct a drill for an active shooter scenario. This is only a drill. Students will be instructed today in every class, every period, the steps they should take in the event of an active shooter situation. All students will be expected to seek a safe and secure, locked area on campus to go to and remain unitl the “all clear” is given. All staff will immediately begin monitoring their District email accounts for communication from the Command Center. All classroom doors are always kept locked from the outside, so as soon as the door is closed, it is locked.

The drill will end as soon as admin staff has walked the campus and checked all doors, all courtyards, all common areas. The staff will debrief the drill at the end of the day, as well as next Tuesday.

Please talk to your student tonight about the drill tomorrow. Please remind them that if they are outside of a classroom at the time of the drill or actual lockdown, they are to go to the nearest classroom, office, or MPR, remain quiet, close all blinds if they are open and pull the door shut. Reassure your student that this is a drill, that it is to be taken seriously so we can all be the best prepared in the event of an actual situation.

The staff at DPMHS is committed to ensure the safety of all members of our communiity. Although this can be a very upsetting topic, the best preparation is to have a plan and practice.

Thank you for assisting with this important matter.

Best,

Principal Smith

Mejor,

Principal Smith
