Good Evening Sharks, this is Principal Smith with your weekly update. I would like to begin with a compliment to all of the students at DPMHS who have been attending school and classes on time and have demonstrated excellent attendance! Your commitment to your education shows and I see it every day!

Parents, the First Reporting Period Progress Reports will be carried home tomorrow, Monday, with your student. They should be signed and returned to the Period 1 teacher for proof of signature. Don’t forget to also be monitoring your student’s grades on Jupiter, our web-based grading system.

This Tuesday, September 13th, is a regular day and school lets out at 3:02 pm.

School tours for next year continue on Wednesdays and Fridays! Please share about our great school and encourage other families to come check us out! We are on Facebook, Daniel Pearl Magnet High School, and on Twitter, @DPMHSPrincipal! Follow us to see and learn about our school!

On Thursday, September 15th, from 5:30pm - 7:30pm, DPMHS will hold its annual Back to School Night! We will have food trucks here, The Greasy Weiner and Tropical Sno, for your dining pleasure! At 4:30pm, Ms. Bootel will lead the annual Title I Meeting in the MPR, and at 5:00pm, Ms. Pevar will host the ELD/LTEL Meeting, and Ms. Hicks will be hosting the Gifted and Talented meeting! EL/ELD and Gifted will be held in the teacher’s classrooms. I look forward to seeing all of you at Back to School night!

Leadership is hosting a fundraiser, now through December, at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Sherman Oaks. All you have to do is show your card and Leadership will earn 10% of your bill. See Ms. Walker in Room 7 if you need a card!

On Friday, there is a Parent Coffee for Spanish speaking parents in the Parent Center beginning at 8:15am. The meeting will be hosted by Ms. Toni in the Parent Center.

And last but not least, DPMHS wishes Ms. Rene Ahal the very best in her new school assignment! Ms. Ahal has served as our PSA Counselor for many years, and has been assigned to a new school! Thank you Ms. Ahal for your dedication and participation at DPMHS! We will miss you!

That’s it for this week! We’ll see you tomorrow!
