Good evening parents, guardians, students, and staff, it is with the deepest regrets that I inform you that on Friday evening, three Birmingham Community Charter High School students, graduates from the Class of 2013 and Class of 2014 , were involved in a terrible automobile accident. The young men were alumni of the Birmingham Community Charter High School Football Team.

Two of these young men have lost their promising lives and the third is hospitalized in stable but critical condition. These three young men were very active at Birmingham and well respected by all of their stakeholders. As many of you know, Daniel Pearl Magnet High School athletes are an active part of the Patriot teams at Birmingham, and many of our students and families have experienced a significant loss.

We wish to inform you that Daniel Pearl Magnet High School will have a Crisis Team on Tuesday to assist as it is needed and we have put a plan together using multiple trained professionals to extend counseling and support to any Daniel Pearl Magnet High School Stakeholder. Classes will be in session, but students and families are encouraged to visit the Parent Center if you need support during this difficult time. A moment of silence was held today during first period, and all of the faculty want to extend our deepest condolences to those families dealing with this terrible loss.

If you notice anyone struggling with this loss, please console them and extend our invitation to provide help as is needed at school - you would only need to contact the Main Office to ask for assistance.
