Weekly Update

Good Afternoon Sharks, this is Principal Smith with your Weekly Update! First a reminder, there is no school on Wednesday, October 12th, Classes will resume on Thursday, October 13th. Thank you students, Ms. Spector, and Ms. Bootel for taking Daniel Pearl Magnet on the road for recruitment! I heard the shows at Northridge Middle School and Columbus Middle School were fantastic and generated great enthusiasm about our school! Thank you again for your hard work to show-off who we are!

I would like to update our lobby paper school information board to 21st century technology by purchasing a monitor (TV) to run our daily and weekly activities as you enter the front of the school. If you are able to help us achieve this goal, please consider making a cash or check donation to the Daniel Pearl Magnet Donation account. The main office will be able to accept all donations, and no amount is too small!

Daniel Pearl Magnet said farewell and best of luck to Mr. Hoeks, who has taken an assignment at another school to further his teaching experience. We wish him the best! Beginning tomorrow, we welcome our new History teacher, Mr. Abelson! Please stop by Room 17 to introduce your self and help him feel welcome!

On Thursday, October 13th, our LA School Police Explorer Program will begin with an informational meeting at 5:30pm in Room 2. All are welcome to attend this meeting. Students who join the Explorer program will have the ability to earn college credits!

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt fundraiser continues at Vanowen and Corbin every Thursday in the month of October! You just have to mention or show that you are from Daniel Pearl Magnet for us to get credit!

Looking ahead, October 20th is our semi-annual Red Cross Blood Drive and all are welcome to come donate blood to save a life! Help us reach our goal and give back to others who need us!

That’s it for this week! See you tomorrow!
