Weekly Update

Good Evening Daniel Pearl Magnet High School Families, this is your weekly update.

DPMHS students, under the instruction of Ms. Hicks, are participating in The Hour of Code, where students learn how to write code for computer programs. Teachers have signed up with Ms. Hicks to offer this to their students.

Leadership has many ongoing activities from now until Dec. 18th: Marie Calendars Pie Sale for $13 each; Toys for Tots Drive, and toys can be dropped off at the main office; and a canned food drive, canned food can also be dropped off at the main office.

On Tuesday, Dec. 9th, there is a mandatory meeting for all freshman students in Mr. Wild’s room at lunch. Also on Tuesday, the DPMHS Games and Crafts will be happening during lunch in Room 3, with Ms. Bootel and Ms. Pershes. All are welcome to join in!

On Wednesday, Dec. 10th:

Authors Sara Skilton and Alexa Young will be visiting DPMHS! Students can meet the authors and purchase their books at a reduced price in the library.

The Parent Center is holding a workshop titled: Cover California, which is the California part of the Obama care program. The workshop will be from 2:20 pm - 3:00 pm, in the Parent Center.

Ms. Kim will be holding a meeting right after the California Care meeting for all interested parents on English Language Master Plan Instructional Program Options. Ms. Kim will be explaining the various instructional program choices for parents of English Learner students.

Fiesta Friday is this Friday, Dec. 12th, and there will be an Art Show in the MPR during lunch, from 12:40 pm - 1:10 pm. All are welcome to visit the Art Show.

Looking ahead, Monday, Dec. 15th is a regular school day, full schedule, with dismissal at 3:16 pm. Finals are from Tuesday, Dec. 16th to Thursday, Dec. 18th. Minimum days will be each day from the 16th - the 19th of December, with dismissal at 12:27 pm. House Awards will be given during House assemblies on Friday. Winter break is from Dec. 22 - Jan. 9th. Classes resume on January 12th.
