Good Evening Sharks, this is Principal Smith with your Weekly Update. This Friday, April 15th, the WASC team will be here to review our school’s progress since their last review 3 years ago. This is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and is the accrediting institution that validates our diplomas. Parents are welcome anytime throughout the day if you would like to meet the visiting committee.There will be a parent focus group meeting at 1:30 pm, and all parents are welcome to attend.

On Wednesday, April April 13th, at 5:30 pm in the MPR, Dr. Lori Vollandt will be presenting a film on the topic of prescription drug abuse titled, “Take Only As Directed.” Dr. Vollandt will lead a Q & A after the film.

On Thursday, April 14th through Sunday, April 17th, 20 students from The Pearl Post, Prestige Yearbook, and the Pearl Net News will attend the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown LA. Students will attending valuable workshops, be competing in write-offs, as well as find out if we win a prestigious Pacemaker Award! Good luck to all of our student journalists and their teacher advisors! Thank you to Ms. Chavira for being the lead coordinator of this year’s spring convention!

On Friday, all 10th grade students will be taking the CST’s in Science. Please get a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast! Also on Friday, voting for the Class of 2017 Officers will take place during Fiesta Friday! Make sure to cast your vote! Good luck to all students on the ballot!

Looking ahead Seniors, April 29th is the deadline for all Prom, Senior Packet, and Grad Night payments! Don’t be left out of the senior fun!
