Weekly Update

March 28, 2016 at 7:52 pm

Good Evening Sharks, this is Principal Smith with your Weekly Update. I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break, but alas, Spring Break is over and classes resume tomorrow, Tuesday, March 29th, with the first bell at 7:55 am. Remember, Tuesdays are on the Shortened Bell Schedule, so classes end at 1:37 pm.

There are 2 very important meeting s this week:

On Wednesday, March 30th at 6:00 pm, Ms. Torres will be holding a Summer School meeting for parents and students needing to attend Summer School for Credit Recovery. Please plan to attend to be fully informed. Daniel Pearl Magnet HS is not a Summer School location, so this meeting will be very important to hear all of your options.

On Thursday, March 31st, at 5:30 pm, the School Site Council will be meeting to discuss the school budget for the 2016-17 school year. The SSC gives recommendation to the Principal on how to best prioritize the Federal Categorical funds and align expenditures with the needs of our students. Please plan to attend this very important meeting to offer your voice to these decisions.

Attention Seniors - this Friday, April 1st is the LAST DAY for cap and gown orders. This is no joke! Place your order now!

Attention Juniors: The Junior Class Shirts-are on sale for $18 in the student store.

The Teen Art Workshops continue on Thursdays at 4:00 pm at the Van Nuys Library. These are free teen workshops, led by teaching artists from LA County Museum of Art.

Looking ahead: April 9th is our annual Sparkle Saturday! Help us spruce up our school to prepare for our WASC Mid-Term Revisit on Friday, April 15th. WASC will be evaluating our progress on our accreditation plan written 3 years ago, and we want to look our best for the visiting team!

That’s it for this week! I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow!
