Weekly Update
Good Evening Sharks, This is Ms. Smith with your weekly update.First I want to welcome two new faculty! Ms. Suzanne Strojny is our new Teacher Librarian and she has had a fantastic start getting the library open, inviting classes in, and meeting with the Lunch Bunch Club this past week! Mr. Wes Hambright joins us as our new Music teacher, and has jumped in with great enthusiasm! Welcome to both of you! Also, Ms. Lupe is back and we are all happy to have her back at DPMHS!
Now a few reminders: Parents, please make sure we have your correct phone contacts and that you have created your Jupiter Grades account on Jupiter Grades!
Students are reminded to wear appropriate attire for school. It is expected that young ladies are wearing appropriate length shorts and skirts and midriffs/tummies are covered. Young men are to wear a sleeved shirt, pants with waist sizes that fit appropriately. Caps and beanies are to be solid black, turquoise, DPMHS logo wear, or BCCHS athletic caps.
Tardies are becoming an increasing problem again, and I remind all that our school is in an area that is congested in the morning, and there is a great deal of traffic on freeways and surrounding areas. The first bell rings at 7:55 am, and classes begin at 8:00 am. It is important for all students to be in class on time and ready to learn.
The Magnet Application portal is now open, and I encourage all of you to share with your neighbors, friends, and colleagues about our wonderful school and that now is there chance to apply to the best school in LAUSD! The website is http:\\echoices.lausd.net. School tours are on Wednesday at 1:15 pm and Fridays AT 9:15 am.
On Monday, there is a Senior Class meeting in the MPR during lunch and a Sophomore meeting in Room 4.
This Tuesday, October 6th, the Yo-Yo Meet-Up is happening in Room 4 at lunch and the PTSA is holding a fundraiser at Panda Express at the location on Saticoy and Louise, from 3-7 pm. Grab a flyer in the Main hallway! Help us get our student journalists to Orlando in November!
On Thursday and Friday, auditions will be held for the World Music Day Talent Show! See Mr. Hambright in Room 23 for more information!
Math tutoring continues on Mondays and Thursdays after school with Ms. Hicks and Mr. Cramer, and also during lunch on Wednesday and Thursday with Mr. Wild.
That’s it for this week! See you tomorrow!
