Good Afternoon Sharks, this is Principal Smith with your Weekly Update! Welcome to Daniel Pearl Magnet High School, Home of the Sharks! We are excited to open the 2017-2018 school year and have many great events planned for this year! Weekly Updates will go out on most Sundays at 5:30pm to keep you informed of upcoming events and important dates.

Tomorrow, Tuesday August 15th is opening day for students, with the first bell at 7:55am and the tardy bell at 8:00am. Tomorrow is a shortened day schedule and students dismiss at 1:42pm. Period One classes will be posted for all students in alphabetical order in a variety of locations around the hallways. All students should check to make sure their Period 1 did not change if they came through Orientation. Students should come prepared with a minimum of supplies: pen, pencil, paper, agenda book, and notebook. Teachers will provide students information about class supplies on the first day.

Wednesday, August 15th, is a Minimum Day, with dismissal at 12:27pm.

Thursday, August 16th is the first day of a regular schedule, with dismissal at 3:16pm. Our first PTSA meeting is also Thursday, from 6:30 - 7:30pm, in the Multi Purpose Room, (MPR), at school. All are welcome and I hope you attend this kick-off meeting!

Friday, August 17th is a regular day, with dismissal at 3:16pm.

Looking ahead: Friday, September 1st and Monday, September 4th are school holidays. Thursday, September 7th is Back to School Night, from 4:30pm - 7:00pm.

Reminders: Traffic will be very heavy in the morning. If you are dropping off students, please come into the drop-off lane at the front of the school to drop students. The Students Store has Spirit Wear, mesh bags for PE Clothes, backpacks and messenger bags with our school logo. Also, polo shirts, t-shirts, and hoodies are also available! Show you school spirit and wear your spirit wear!
