Weekly Update

September 18, 2016 at 6:10 pm

Good Evening Sharks, this is Principal Smith with your weekly update. I want to thank all of our families who attended Back to School Night on Thursday, September 15th! We had a great turnout and I hope each of you feel better informed of your student’s class expectations! Also, thank you to those of you who supported the advanced journalism students who are fundraising for their Fall Convention!

All students and parent/guardians should have an account set-up for our online grade system, Jupiter Grades. All students were given the temporary passwords for their accounts as well as their parent/guardian accounts. Jupiter is the best way to monitor your student’s progress, stay in touch with their teachers, and actively support your student. If you need assistance in setting up your Jupiter account, please call the school and we are happy to assist you.

On Tuesday, September 20th, DPMHS will hold our semi-annual parent conferences. All teachers will be in the MPR beginning at 1:45pm to hold brief conferences, approximately 10 minutes, on a first come – first serve basis. Conferences will end at 3:00pm. If you cannot make this time and would like to meet with one or more of your student’s teachers, please email or Jupiter message the teacher to make other arrangements.

Spirit Week is here! The line-up is as follows:
Monday– Neon Day
Tuesday– Tacky Tourist Day
Wednesday– Super Hero Dress Up Day
Thursday– Wear your House colors
Friday– Favorite Team Jersey Day

Seniors Portrait Make-Up Day is Wednesday, the 21st.
All Houses will have meetings on Thursday, the 22nd, to hand out House Awards. Assemblies will be throughout the day in the MPR.

Fundraising at Buffalo Wild Wings continues at the store in Sherman Oaks. DPMHS gets 10% of all sales if you mention Daniel Pearl through December.

School tours for prospective new students has begun and are held every Wednesday, Period 5, and Friday, Period 2. Please spread the word and encourage your friends and family with high school age students to come check us out!

Looking ahead, the Fall Earthquake Drill will be held on Tuesday, September 27th. The Freshman Class leadership campaign has begun. All 9th grade students interested in running for President, Vice- President, Secretary, or Treasurer are encouraged to submit their intent to run for elected office. Voting will take place on Friday, September 30th at Fiesta Friday Lunch! Good luck to all of the candidates!

That’s it for this week! See you tomorrow!
