Good evening Sharks, this is Principal Smith with your Weekly Update. The opening week of school went very smoothly, and a big shout out goes to Ms. Bootel, Ms. Torres, Ms. Wynter, and Ms. Lupe! Thank you for the work you did so support our opening and our students!
Jupiter, the web-based grade book is up and working. All new students will receive a letter with your temporary user id and password, as well as the student’s temporary user id and password. On Monday, August 22, all students in grades 9 – 11 will see the movie, A Mighty Heart, starring Angelina Jolie. The movie is a feature film about Daniel Pearl and the tragic end to his life. Permission slips were sent home with students last Thursday.
This Tuesday, August 23rd, all students enrolled in PE are expected to be dressed in PE attire, and non-suits will begin to count. Also on Tuesday, we will have our first shortened day, with dismissal at 1:32pm. All faculty will be meeting for professional development after dismissal.
Thursday, August 25th, the first School Site Council meeting will be held in the MPR. The meeting will start at 5:30pm and all are welcome to attend the meeting. This is where you have a voice about school categorical budgets and expenditures.
On Friday, all students will attend a grade-level-alike presentation to learn about the expectations of students, rules, policies and procedures, and school clubs, events, etc. Lunch detention will begin tomorrow for all students tardy to any class throughout the day. Be on time, plan ahead for traffic, and listen for the music at the 1 minute warning to make sure you are on time!
Looking ahead, CSF applications are due in Room 20 by the end of the day on September 7th. Ask Ms. Mauermann about CSF if you have questions!
