Good Evening Parents, Guardians, and Students, This is Ms. Smith with your weekly update. The PTSA continues its support of the Pearl Post and Yearbook staff in their fundraising efforts on the YouCaring website, please check the Pearl Post or www.pearlmagnet.org for information. The World’s Finest Chocolate Sales will be starting this week, and students are reminded sales may not occur during the school day.

On Tuesday, October 15th, the PSAT will be administered to sophomores.

On Wednesday, October 15th, the DPMHS Parent Workshop will be offered by the LA Fire Department on Disaster Preparedness, at 5:30 pm, at the school. Please RSVP if you plan to attend this valuable workshop.

On Thursday, October 16th, at approximately 10:20 am, DPMHS will participate in the Great California Shake Out, our semi-annual earthquake drill. Parents are welcome to participate in this drill.

The Book Fair is open, and on Thursday evening, 5:30 – 7:00 pm, October 16th, you can get a free slice of pizza when you make a purchase at the Book Fair! The PTSA will be holding this month’s meeting at 7:00 pm, right after the Book Fair closes.

On Friday, October 17th, the DPMHS Sharks and their families are invited to skate with us at the Northridge Skateland! This is another fundraiser supporting our students going to Washington DC for the National Journalism Convention. All are welcome!

Looking ahead, the final Picture Day for all students and staff will be on Monday, October 20th.

On Thursday, October 23rd, DPMHS will host Daniel Pearl World Music Day, at 11:00 am, in the MPR. We are offering 50 seats to families, on a first come, first RSVP basis. If you would like to reserve seats, please call the school at 818-654-3775. This is our annual event honoring Daniel Pearl’s birthday, and is listed on the Pearl Foundation World Music Day calendar, and is an honor for our students to participate.

And last but not least, Ms. Zimring, our volunteer College Counselor, is available by appointment for parents to meet with and discuss student college plans, financial aid and the application process. Ms. Zimring can be reached by email atlzimring@gmail.com.
