Weekly Message

Good Evening Parents, Guardians, and Students, this is Ms. Smith with your weekly message from Daniel Pearl Magnet High School.

The Pearl Post newspaper received great news, being named as finalists for the Pacemaker Award, the highest recognition for a high school publication. It’s our first for the print issue. DPMHS was a finalist for our Pearl Post website in 2013. The winners will be announced at the JEA/NSPA national high school convention in DC in November. Congratulations to Ms. Chavira and all of the Pearl Post students.

There is a PTSA Board Meeting this Monday, at 4:30 pm. The School Site Council will be meeting this Monday at 5:30 pm at the school, and everyone is welcome.

Various different teachers offer tutoring each day after school. Students should check the Pearl Preview in their Period 1 class to see the schedule.

Seniors, if you still need to have your Senior Portrait done, or want to schedule a retake, please see Ms. Diane to get the contact information.

On Thursday, September 25th, there is no school. Daniel Pearl Magnet High School wishes all of our Jewish families a Happy New Year!

This week Ms. Celi, our librarian, is acknowledging Banned Book week, and encourages all students to sign the Banned Book poster in the library.

And finally, looking ahead, the Yearbook staff is planning a night at Skateland for all families and students! It will be held on Friday, October 17th, from 8 pm – 11 pm, and the cost for admission and skates will be $15! Bring the whole family and enjoy the fun!

That wraps up this week’s announcements! Goodnight.
